2023 President's Cup - 1st Shoot of the Season
Coming soon: 2023 President’s Cup!
First shoot: Saturday, May 20, 2023, 9 am to 4 pm
At the Falmouth Rod and Gun Club rifle range, Gray Road, Falmouth
The President’s Cup is a series of rimfire rifle shoots between Rod and Gun club “teams”—each participating club’s members who shoot form that club’s team.
Shooters can shoot once, twice, or in every shoot. The central idea is for members to shoot and have safe fun in a friendly competition.
The first match of the 2023 President’s Cup will be Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 9 am to 4 pm at the Falmouth Rod and Gun Club rifle range, on the club grounds off
Gray Road in Falmouth. After May 20th, there will be shoots on the third Saturday of the months of June, July, and August (June and August will be at Buxton-Hollis
Rod & Gun Club. Registration at 9 am, shooting at 10 am), The club with the best cumulative score after 4 shoots wins.
The President’s Cup is a friendly competition between clubs.
The course of fire will be:
• Any safe .22 or .17 HMR rimfire rifle and ammunition weighing 8.5 pounds or less
• No hooked butt plates, no Schuetzen butt plates or palm rests, and no slings
• Any sights, including scopes
• NRA A-23/5 targets at 50 yards – 5 shots per bull
• Firing from the bench, rifles supported by shooters’ hands with “elbows on the bench”.
All targets turned in will be scored.
We will continue running the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program (MQP) alongside the President’s Cup.
The MQP is a stepwise progression where shooters can earn patches and rockers from Pro-Marksman through Distinguished Expert by shooting and scoring targets.
The President’s Cup and the MQP use the same Rules, targets, and distance.
Cost:
• Entry (includes 1 target): $8.00
• Re-entry: $0.50 (shooters may re-enter as many times as they like)
• Re-entry for Junior shooters participating in MQP only: $0.50.
Hot dogs, burgers, various chips, and soft drinks will be available for purchase.
We may have some .22 LR ammo available for junior shooters.
